Position Summary

Salary Placement and Work Hours : This is a 12-month position. Placement will be on the E1 salary schedule (Range of $50,680 to $68,169) and is at the President's discretion based on applicable, documented work experience and level of education. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Function : The Network and Server Administrator works in the Office of Educational Technology Support to provide support and maintenance to College servers; network routing and switching equipment; and PC hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. This position is responsible for operating computer and peripheral equipment by means of a PC or online terminal. The position is under direct supervision of the Director of Educational Technology Support and must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.
Duties and Responsibilities : The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following :
- Design, configure, and manage local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks
- Maintain firewalls, routers, switches, and access points, ensuring the network's security and efficiency
- Monitor network performance, applying updates, patches, and security measures to ensure optimal performance and uptime on campus and at other College locations
- Troubleshoot network issues on campus and at other College locations
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers utilizing VMware, including Windows and Linux operating systems
- Monitor server performance, applying updates, patches, and security measures to ensure system reliability
- Manage and maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other essential services such as network printing services
- Assist with maintaining single sign-on with multiple applications through Microsoft Entra
- Maintain and administrate virtual desktop infrastructure utilizing VMware Horizon
- Ensure the integrity and security of the college's IT infrastructure, implement security policies and best practices
- Maintain compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA)
- Perform regular vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and system audits
- Provide Tier II technical support for escalated IT issues, assisting the Help Desk team as needed
- Document configurations, processes, and procedures for IT systems
- Evaluate, recommend, and assist in the acquisition and / or discontinuance of technology equipment
- Assist the Office of Educational Technology support with other tasks as requested by the President and / or the Director of Educational Technology Support
- Represent the College on various committees and serve on institutional committees as assigned
- Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies
- Work occasional evenings or weekends to perform upgrades or respond to critical issues as needed by the President or supervisor
- Participate in the College's planning process
