The Workforce Training Coordinator works to promote student success and program completion by assisting students to set and meet academic, personal and career goals. The Workforce Training Coordinator must have a passion for students and the College mission, as the position primarily involves developing new programs, relationships with business and industry, working with funding resources, assisting the Executive Director of Workforce Development with projects and much more. This position's chief aim is to help run Skills for Success courses at Reid State Technical College. These are non-credit classes and will be set up through the Innovation Center. In addition, this person will input information into the tracking system for apprenticeships (RAPIDS). Further, the Workforce Training Coordinator must have an attention to detail and must comply with applicable federal, institutional guidelines and the policies and procedures manual, College Catalog, ACCS Board of Trustees Policy.
Salary Commensurate with education and experience according to ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule C3.

At a minimum, the essential functions of the Workforce Training Coordinator are to:
- Assist the Executive Director of Workforce Development in building, implementing, evaluating, and assessing courses and programs to support a prepared workforce. This may include courses, programs from Skills for Success, and other specialized training (i.e. related instruction for apprenticeship or certifications).
- Develop an annual schedule of offerings, as well as facilitate the planning for their successful implementation of Skills for success courses with high schools in our service area.
- Use labor market data, as well as frequent interaction with local and regional employers, to identify workforce development needs.
- Research trends and opportunities in career & technical education and make course/program proposals to the Executive Director of Workforce Development.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of yearly budgets, goals, and related metrics.
- Coordinate comprehensive marketing efforts for all Skills for Success course and Non-credit programs.
- Recruit students, on a regional basis, for upcoming courses and ensure all skills for success assessments are completed as required.
- Assure that supplies, materials, equipment, texts, and supportive services for skills for success courses and non-credit programs are procured.
- Maintain records and collect all information required for reporting purposes to all state and federal agencies.
- Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure operational objectives are being met, including planning sheets for all courses, and maintain course/program documentation, including syllabi and other relevant historical information. Also keep all records and documentation for skills for success.
- Serve on committees related to workforce development as requested by the Dean of Instruction and Dean of Students.
- Attend group meetings, as well as local, regional, and statewide meetings which support current legislative priorities (i.e. WIOA, Workforce).
- Assist with Workforce grant writing, reporting, and implementation.
- Collaborate and assist the Coordinator of Institutional Advancement and Grants on workforce related grants.
- Responsible for student engagement- ensure students are meeting attendance and academic requirements in all skills for success and non-credit courses.
- Coordinate dedicated events with partners and local social service organizations to provide community service while promoting offerings.
- Serve on local and regional committees and boards to represent Workforce Development and Reid State Technical College.
- Conduct joint visits with the Executive Director of Workforce Development and regional training needs.
- Identify grant opportunities and assist in drafting proposals, grant management, and monitoring activities.
- Partner with local industries to create direct career pathways for graduates.
- Work with state educational agencies to ensure credit articulation.
- Work closely with the business office on funding projects process.
- Develop noncredit programs, apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs that will lead to employment with the maritime, shipbuilding and industrial companies.
- Integrate with Adult Education and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services for financial aid and career support.
- Work closely with partners in the Mobile area to set up temporary housing for students traveling to the area to work.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior, loyalty, honestly, and integrity, both on and off the campus.
- Other duties as assigned by the President and/or Executive Director of Workforce Development.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in the workforce.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to take initiative and work independently, meet regular deadlines, and maintain the confidentiality of student information.
- Must have a working knowledge of the Innovation Center and Skills for success courses.
- Must regularly engage in professional learning activities.
- Able to work evenings during registration with occasional weekend hours.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of college student services is preferred.
- Must be proficient in the use of commonly used office and academic computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Banner and Degree Works.
