Job Description Title - K-2 Auxiliary Teacher (EL Support)
Reports To : Principal and Elementary Curriculum Coordinator
FLSA Designation : Non - Exempt
Job Goal : To assist the K-2 teacher to foster learning, growth and development and readiness of grade-level standards, for each child through the use of high quality, developmentally appropriate instruction and ongoing assessments.
Minimum Qualifications :
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED) and academic competency in basic skills
- Must possess a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or at least 9 credit hours of college work in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution
- Must obtain a criminal history background clearance and meet the suitability criteria for employment under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457

Regularly required to speak, listen walk, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
Terms of employment : 187-days
Daily work schedule will be determined by the principal or his / her designee for the necessary operations of the school assigned. Work assignments and schedules are subject to change.
Salary :
Approved salary schedule for K-2 Auxiliary Teachers is located on the Human Resources webpage. Annual salary is based on a 40-hour week with daily full-time equivalent of 37.5 standard work hours.
Evaluation :
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the support personnel evaluation system and board policy.
