JOB DESCRIPTION :

Carpenters are skilled artisans who construct, erect, install and renovate structures made of wood and other materials, ranging from kitchen cabinets to building frameworks. They work in various areas of construction and undertake a range of jobs including installing doors and windows, building furniture, designing and fitting kitchens and rebuilding roofs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Performs assignments related to normal duties of a Journeyman Carpenter.
  • Completes required forms and orders materials and tools necessary to perform assignments.
  • Supervises and instructs subordinate employees.
  • Documents all material and labor expended on projects.
  • Adheres to all Board of Education Policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Completion of four (4) years apprenticeship.
  • Two (2) years of experience in remodeling and new construction as a Journeyman Carpenter.
  • Knowledge of basic tools of the trade.
  • Knowledge and expertise in rough and finished carpentry.
  • Experience in the safe and proper operation, and maintenance of all tools and equipment used in the carpentry trade.
  • Experience in multi-craft maintenance (i.e. floor, ceiling tile, light plastering and repair).
  • Possess a valid Alabama Driver's License.
  • Must be able to work to standards and preform in a team environment
