Director of Operations - South

To partner with Retail Operations to design, develop, and implement human resource strategies, learning/development protocols and risk management procedures that result in increased profit and mission fulfillment. Works with team to provide organizational resources and the capacity necessary to carry out the programs developed for mission delivery.

Function:

Under the supervision of the VP of Operations and Territory Development, is responsible for the successful operation of all store locations as well as leadership development, financial performance and operational efficiency/effectiveness.

Specific Duties:

1. Demonstrates Alabama Goodwill Core Values in all actions, ensures adherence to Guiding Principles and CARF standards.

2. Participates and consults with Talent and Culture, Learning and Development, and Risk Management leaders to ensure the organization meets its goals for team member well-being, asset protection, risk mitigation, and cost reduction.

3. Trains and coaches store leadership in conjunction with the Talent and Culture and Learning & Development Teams to meet Goodwill objectives and ensure that each TLC works within a framework of both professional and personal growth.

4. Engages with the Talent and Culture Department to coordinate Onboarding- Learning and Training Plans, Recruitment/ Pre-Employment Process, Team Member Relations and Performance Management.

5. Promotes and assists efforts to align Alabama Goodwill programs and partnerships. (I.E. GoodwillU and WESA.

6. Leads, directs, and coaches store leadership to maximize sales per square foot, donor value, and profit for AGI.

7. Ensures statistical counts (i.e. donor counts, apparel hung, rotation count, etc.) are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Regularly reviews and analyzes register PLU readings, cash reports, daily, monthly and yearly activity reports, transmittal of reports, daily deposits, monitor progress on goals, and make recommendations for change.

8. Advocates for and supports mission programs including GoodwillWorks and the Mission Services Department.

9. Proactively resolves conflicts among collection, production, internal/external distribution and sales processes of donated goods.

10. Assists in preparing and submitting annual retail sales budgets and insures the operation of the retail stores within budgeted expense to revenue ratios.

11. Assists with store layouts and resets.

12. Coordinates schedules and supervises Operations Trainers, managers in training, and store coverage.

13. Visits store locations on a regular basis to review performance and labor issues.

14. Ensures high donor and customer relations standards.

15. Participates in the development of MDS's operational and strategic planning activities. Participates on the MDS Team to assist the coordination of organizational and operational issues.

16. Attends training as assigned by team leader.

17. Performs other duties as assigned by team leader.

Qualifications:

Superior leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

Thorough understanding of organizational behavior, metrics, and dynamics.

Knowledge of Donated Goods Operations, Learning & Development, Human Resources, and Risk Management policies / procedures.

Training and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business management, operations preferred.

5-7 years running a Goodwill Store or retail business with 50 employees.

Three years multi-location leadership and management experience.

Special Requirements:

Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekends. This position travels to multiple locations on a daily basis.

Must possess a valid driver's license, appropriate insurance coverage and a privately owned reliable means of transportation to travel throughout AGI territory to visit stores and locations, as necessary.
