Job Title: Temporary Guest Services Associate

Position: This is a temporary guest services position that will last through our busy season- typically ending around Labor Day. The primary responsibilities of the Guest Services Associate are in the retail and outdoor amusement areas. (Ride attendants/ Gate attendants/ Admissions)This position must be willing to work inside the gift shop and outside in attractions. The job entails daily amusement and retail operations and the ability to engage with guests in a busy environment. Excellent customer service skills are a priority. Applications for this position will be accepted until all positions are filled.

Key Responsibilities of the Guest Services Associate

The Guest Services Associate is required to:

• Maintain good standing, attitude, work ethic, etc., providing exceptional customer service to guests, and striving to maintain harmonious relations among staff
• Provide accurate general information to guest and ensure good guest experiences
• Keep work areas neat
• Clean and stock in the gift shop
• Work outdoors for extended hours
• Clean equipment, rides, booths, and grounds- including restrooms
• Operate POS system
• Operate attractions (soaring eagle zip line, safari cars, train, carousel)
• Inform riders of rules, safety regulations, or prohibited items on rides
• Ensure all riders of an attraction are safe and complying to park rules
• Following SOPs and complete checklists
• Use radios for communication and follow the proper chain of command
• Make decisions guided by the core values of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
• Participate in morning meetings and temperature checks
• Participate in after-hours events
• Other duties as needed, and cooperation with departments outside of amusements (administration, maintenance, guest services, etc.)

The above listed duties are general statements of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis. They do not exclude other duties as assigned.

Experience:

• A minimum of 1 year experience in retail/ guest services preferred
• Candidates with ride operator experience will be given preference

Licensure/Certification:

• Must maintain a valid Alabama Driver’s License

Software Requirements:

• Must have basic computer knowledge
• Must be able to utilize the Point of Sale software system and communicate errors to the help desk.

Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements:

• Must have the ability to use mobile devices, computer, fax, scanner, phone, and copy machine

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and per OSHA regulations: Heavy work involves lifting no more than 25 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or varying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.

Environmental/Working Conditions:

• Long hours are sometimes required including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Required to work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
• Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
• Ensure that storage and guest areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe fashion
• The candidate must be able to work effectively unsupervised and approach all encounters with employees and guests in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Personal Attributes: Must be 16 years or older. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and manage well with a wide variety of people within the organization. High attention to detail. Commitment to continually making the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo a better place for its animals, its staff, and its guests.
