The Training Supervisor will be responsible for leading, planning and coordinating training of production operations assigned to the production team.
You will play a vital role in coordinating, organizing, and scheduling training for all of the production team within the manufacturing facilities. This position reports to the Plant Engineer, AIB.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate
- Minimum four (4) years of textile sewing experience.
- Minimum one (1) year experience providing training in cut and sew operations.
- Must demonstrate competence with the following to include thread needle and loading bobbins
Programmable Sew Machine
- Basic knowledge of modern manufacturing practices with specific knowledge and expertise in modern cut and sew operation.
- Must demonstrate specific knowledge and skills in the ability to train employees to meet their highest potential on specific production operations. This may include people with a disability that are visually impaired, blind, deaf, and/or deaf/blind or has another significant disability.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working with individuals that are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind, multidisabled or has another significant disability.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience training employees within a manufacturing textile facility.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must follow AIDB policies and procedures.
- Must understand, support and follow the mission of the AbilityOne Program by remaining in compliance of statutory and regulatory requirements set forth in the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act. You are expected to conduct all business ethically and lawfully.
- Must possess computer skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint, and Word) and Google Suite.
- Must under manufacturing work standards and measure methods.
- Must be able demonstrate mathematical ability.
- Knowledge of piece rate and incentive systems.
- Attend conferences, in-service training and other functions as directed by supervisor.
- Demonstrate a good attendance record. May be required to work overtime to meet on time delivery schedules.
- Must be able to perform your responsibilities that sets a good example for others to follow.
- Must be able to deal pleasantly and courteously with all of the AIB Team.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and deal with changes in the work assignments.
- Must comply with all safety requirements.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum direct supervision.
- Must complete Train the Trainer Program within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
- Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the direction of activities of the production training established for each employee by working with the Plant Engineer.
- Supervise the Production Training staff by working together to provide the training required to empower each employee to meet their highest potential.
- Coordinates, plans, and organizes the training schedules for all of the production team.
- Provide training for employees to reach their highest potential with meeting their goals in production, safety, and quality.
- Assist the manufacturing team with development of process improvements to increase operator efficiency, accuracy, and blind labor conversions.
- Manages employee training record documentation including written and electronic files.
- Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Institute Partner to develop the training needs of employees by identifying efficiencies to bring a positive change.
- Evaluate blind work compatibility with specific labor operations and to assist the Plant Manager in adapting labor operations to accommodate blind workers. Including developing and improving work aids, jigs and basic workstation configurations so that work methods are improved for all production employees.
- Perform work measurement duties and maintain required documentation in compliance with DOL and National Industries for the Blind regulations.
- Knowledge of identifying and coordinating training needs of all production employees as directed by the Plant Manager.
- Participate as a member of the product development team to review new products, construct first articles, product demonstration models and samples as required to analyze the labor operations and cost of a new production.
- Make recommendations relative to equipment purchases based on manufacturing requirements.
- Must possess or develop an understanding of cultures and needs of persons who are Deaf, Blind or DeafBlind, ensuring all actions and decisions demonstrate a respect for and value of persons with sensory loss.
- Must attend Disability Sensitivity Training within the first six (6) months of employment.
