As a Job Coach you will provide direct services to individual consumers referred to AIDB by the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS). This position will work in tandem with Job Developers and other employment staff with a focus on teaching and training consumers, using the least intrusive methods possible, in the requirements and duties of the consumer’s job and acceptable/expected behaviors surrounding employment. This will include but not limited to performing assessments, job skills training, interview preparation, progress monitoring, and assisting with self-advocacy in the workplace.
You will play a vital role to ensure that AIDB’s culture of inclusion is reinforced and that employees feel connected, recognized, and proud to be a part of the organization.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful work experience.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Google G-Suite including Calendar, Sheets, Docs, and Drive.
- Ability to take initiative, anticipate problems, follow through, and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and lift fifty (50) pounds (without assistance); and lift more than fifty pounds (50) with assistance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One (1) year of experience working with individuals with vision and/or hearing differences.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform job coaching through job task analysis and/or other instructional methods, including but not limited to, physically modeling jobs for consumers.
- Assists in the evaluation and enhancement of consumer work skills and program effectiveness.
- Use tact and friendliness with community partners, ADRS staff, and the general public.
- Work cooperatively as a team with other staff to best serve consumers.
- Provide and/or coordinate transportation for consumers participating in work experience/job skills training in the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must have access to a safe and properly insured automobile and provide proof of comprehensive automobile insurance.
- May be required to have a current Alabama Driver License and to be able to be covered by the AIDB insurance carrier
- Must complete AIDB training on Deafness, Blindness, Visual Impairments, DeafBlindness, and Multiple Disabilities within the first twelve (12) months of employment
- Must obtain a sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL within the first twelve (12) months, SURVIVAL PLUS within the first twenty-four (24) months and INTERMEDIATE within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment
- Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB
SALARY: $19.18 – $24.01 Scale C5 Rank 43
