ABOUT THE ROLE
An AIDB Warehouse employee has a broad range of responsibilities most of which involve receiving and distributing goods throughout the Institute. AIDB Central Warehouse is essentially a service department. Therefore, courtesy and efficiency are necessary attributes of the AIDB Warehouse employee. Food, custodial supplies, various educational and office equipment and supplies are received and delivered on a daily basis. Along with the receipt and distribution of goods the AIDB
Warehouse employee will also make daily pick-ups at the Post Office dock, daily recyclable pick-ups, and furniture deliveries and perform a variety of other logistical duties.
ABOUT YOU
You will be an essential member of the logistics team at AIDB Central Warehouse. You will become familiar with all schools and departments of AIDB in the local area. You will be expected to conduct yourself courteously and professionally at all times. You will be required to perform your duties in a manner that sets a good example, especially for the students that we train. AIDB Warehouse employees play a vital role in the daily operations of the Institute by distributing the items that make it
possible for all AIDB employees to render the excellent services for which AIDB is known throughout the country. Flexibility and a positive attitude will aid you greatly in this position. AIDB Warehouse employees report to the AIDB Central Warehouse Supervisor.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent from accrediting school or program.
- Minimum (3) three years’ work experience in shipping and/or receiving.
- Must be able to drive a truck from 1 ½ tons capacity to 4 tons capacity with up to six-wheel drive.
- Possess a valid Drivers License and be able to be insured by the AIDB insurance carrier.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum one (1) year of work experience on a delivery route.
- Minimum one (1) year experience operating material handling equipment.
- Experience with filling out and keeping up with shipping documents preferred.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must follow AIDB policies and procedures
- May be required to attend conferences, in-service training and other functions.
- Must have knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
- Must be physically capable of manually lifting, moving, carrying and handling numerous boxes and containers weighing up to 80 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to operate material handling equipment to include forklift, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. Responsible for unloading freight carriers and placing merchandise into proper storage areas.
- Maintain physical control of all inventory, materials and supplies of the warehouse for external shipping, external receiving and internal movement of goods.
- Must possess general knowledge of office equipment and machines.
- Must possess computer skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and Google Suite.
- Must possess ability to utilize AIDB Warehouse Software.
- Maintain hazardous material records in compliance with military, federal, state and AIDB requirements.
- Must be able to drive a truck from 1 ½ to 4 tons capacity with up to six-wheel drive to pick up and transport materials, supplies and equipment to customers.
- Must be able to give and follow instructions and driving directions
- Determine the best route to take to deliver the materials and supplies to avoid transportation damage.
- Must be able to deal pleasantly and courteously with suppliers, customers and co-workers
- May be required to assist customers with packages in bags or cartons and assist with loading into the customer vehicle.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, labeling and preparing merchandise for shipping
- Unload, count, inspect and verify items received.
- Inspection of items, reconciling shipping documents with purchasing records and maintaining all required documentation with data entry of all inventory and warehouse materials.
- Process warehouse paperwork as needed.
- Responsible for resolving shipping discrepancies working with staff, accounts payable clerk and vendor.
- Sort, record proper information and distribute parcel company packages.
- Transport materials, supplies, and equipment to customers and obtain applicable signatures for delivered materials and supplies.
- Pull and deliver food and supply orders.
- Assure cargo is loaded, properly arranged, secured and that the vehicle is not loaded beyond its capacity.
- Receive, rotate and stock incoming items.
- Handle recyclables.
- Deliver furniture, appliances and equipment to campuses.
- Report vehicle and equipment problems to supervisor.
- Keep vehicles clean and fueled.
- Fill in for mail clerk.
- Assist in taking physical inventory of warehouse stock.
- Responsible for organization and keeping the warehouse and dock area clean and orderly.
- Work with and help train students in warehousing, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must possess or develop an understanding of cultures and needs of persons who are Deaf, Blind or DeafBlind, ensuring all actions and decisions demonstrate a respect for and value of persons with sensory loss.
- Must attend Disability Sensitivity Training Class within the first six (6) months of employment.
- A sign language proficiency level of “SURVIVAL” according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six months of employment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with sensory impaired individuals.
- Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."
SALARY: $16.33 - $19.27 Scale C5 Rank 34
