POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A sign language entry level of SURVIVAL or higher is desired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working for STEM Academy.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a teaching license or paraprofessional credentials.
- Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Deaf education and Deaf culture.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist teachers and staff to whom assigned by reproducing materials, checking papers, recording grades, filing, typing, delivering, copying, laminating and performing other office duties.
- Carry out instructional duties under teacher direction.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops provided.
- Work cooperatively as a team with other school personnel to best serve the students.
- Deal with emergency situations in a calm and logical manner.
- Use tact and friendliness with parents and all other non-staff personnel in a constant public relations program.
- Transport and chaperone students on field trips, to and from area locations.
- Attend departmental meetings, school-wide meetings, in-services and workshops.
- Perform lunch duty in office and cafeteria as needed.
- Fills in for teachers when they are out of the classroom, covers isolation room and Director’s office as requested.
- Assist in any extracurricular activities assigned to the department.
- Use American Sign Language at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Upon being offered employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."
SALARY: $19.88 per hour Scale S1 Rank HS
