Duties
- Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities.
- Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, home care routines, and overall wellness strategies.
- Maintain a clean and organized treatment area, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and in good working condition.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
- Support patients in various settings including pediatrics, geriatrics, home health, inpatient facilities, and outpatient clinics.
Requirements
- Knowledge of physiology and medical terminology is essential.
- Experience or familiarity with pediatric and geriatric populations is preferred.
- Proficiency in physical therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy is a plus.
- Strong skills in patient care with a focus on empathy and effective communication.
- Ability to assist with discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions for patients post-treatment.
- A valid Physical Therapist Assistant license or certification as required by state regulations. Minimum one year of experience preferred.
