Description
The Consumer Lending Specialist will assist members with their consumer lending needs, analyze loan requests, and make credit decisions based on established Consumer Lending Guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Receives member consumer requests electronically and decisions member loans based upon sound underwriting standards. Analyzes current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Makes decision to approve or forward the loan request to the Virtual Application Manager. Maintains a thorough knowledge of Credit Union lending guidelines, credit-granting criteria, interest rates and how they are computed, and the documentation required for each type of loan. Analyzes financial situations to identify and cross-promote additional products and services that would be beneficial to the member.
- Prepares and/or reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy, and establishes the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member.
- Assists in the responsibility for ensuring each loan is prepared, documented, approved, and disbursed appropriately and in a timely manner. If a loan is not approved, the Consumer Lending Specialist has the responsibility to notify the borrower.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Five to seven years of similar experience and a high school diploma. Position requires a high degree of courtesy, tact, and diplomacy. The ability to develop a thorough knowledge of Credit Union lending guidelines and apply guidelines appropriately and consistently is required. The ideal candidate will be able to work with individuals inside and outside the Credit Union for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, and/or soliciting cooperation. The Consumer Lending Specialist is expected to: provide prompt, informed, and accurate service and support to members; ensure lending decisions are in compliance with established lending guidelines; meet or exceed minimum established goals; and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, professional, accurate manner.
