Job Summary :
Alabama Region Medical Systems (ARMS), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is seeking a Desktop / Jr. Systems Administrator to provide hands-on technical support and assist in managing IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for supporting end-user devices, troubleshooting IT issues, maintaining system performance, and assisting in network and server administration. The ideal candidate is a motivated problem-solver with a passion for technology and healthcare IT.
Key Responsibilities :
Desktop Support :
Provide Tier 1 & 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software for end-users.
Manage and resolve support tickets via the IT service desk system.
Assist in user account management (Active Directory, Microsoft 365, EMR / EHR access).
Provide training and technical guidance to staff on IT-related issues.
Systems Administration Assistance :
Support Windows-based servers, Active Directory, and Group Policy management.
Assist with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
Participate in network troubleshooting, including Wi-Fi, switches, and VPN access.
Help maintain cybersecurity measures, including endpoint protection and security patches.
Monitor system performance, backups, and logs for proactive issue resolution.
IT Infrastructure & Security :
Assist with software updates, patch management, and IT asset inventory.
Participate in IT change management processes and documentation.
Support the implementation of HIPAA and other regulatory compliance policies.
Coordinate with external vendors for hardware / software procurement and support.
Required Qualifications :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
1-3 years of experience in IT support, desktop support, or systems administration.
Knowledge of Windows OS, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and basic networking concepts.
Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and remote support tools.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working in healthcare IT, preferably in an FQHC environment.
Familiarity with EHR / EMR systems (eClinicalWorks, Epic, etc.).
Basic knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python) and automation.
IT certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, or CCNA.
