What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hoofstock Keeper position at Alabama Safari Park?
Alabama Safari Park is a 350 acre drive-thru experience with a large collection of 45 different species of exotic animals. The role of Hoofstock Keeper is to monitor guest interactions with our animals and assist in park clean-up/maintenance. The job could also includes working in our walk-through section by cleaning enclosures, waters, and administering daily feeds. We have two openings currently. One is full-time and starts immediately, while the other starts on September 23rd and could be part-time or full-time.
Daily Tasks include:
- Cleaning safari roads, barns, and fields.
-Checking on all animals and monitoring their health throughout the day.
-Interacting with park guests and monitoring that all guests are following the rules.
Note: Previous farm hand/animal care is beneficial (ex. cows, goats, horses etc.)
Requirements:
- Willing to undergo a background check and driver license required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in all weather conditions, and drive a truck (experience with large equipment a plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year animal care experience, preference given to someone with exotic experience
- Having obtained, or seeking a degree in the animal care field
- Experience operating large equipment (tractors, skid steers, trailers, etc.)
