RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  • Meet or exceed USSRC professional and safety standards for the safe, effective, and efficient operation of all simulators (museum and outside simulators).
  • Perform safety checks, complete required checklists proper to opening simulators to ensure correct and safe operation. Ensure that simulators are operated correctly and on schedule.
  • Report any simulator problems or malfunctions to the Aerospace Simulations Supervisor or Simulation Technical staff in a timely manner.
  • Conduct accurate verbal presentations to guests and trainees regarding the nature and operation of simulators in a manner that is understood by all.
  • Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Managers and Museum Operations Supervisors for providing guests and trainees with a quality and sage simulator experience.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment for guests, trainees and employees.
  • Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Managers and Museum Operations Supervisors for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

  • High School or G.E.D.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age to be certified for operation of simulators.

Required Experience

  • At least 6 months experience working with the public required. Must possess excellent verbal communication skills to conduct presentations and interact effectively and courteously with the general public.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Walking and climbing (stairs) to operate simulators, access other departments and experience all areas of the facility.
  • Standing for long periods of time (6-9 hours).
  • Carrying and lifting equipment, supplies, and objects up to 50 lbs. waist high and up to 20 lbs waist high.
  • Bending, kneeling, and reaching to store & retrieve supplies and operate simulators.
  • Reading, seeing, wrist movements, feeling to operate simulators and complete safety checks.
  • Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisors, guests, trainees and employees in person and over the telephone, answer questions and conduct presentations.
  • Must be able to operate museum simulators free of fear or anxiety for the safety of our trainees and guests.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Must be able to work 22 hours per week between the times of 8:45am-5:15pm. Requires day and evening shifts and must be able to work weekends.
