What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Associate Professor of Physical Education position at Alabama State University?
Alabama State University, College of Education/Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER), invites applications to fill the tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Physical Education. The successful applicant will teach courses in undergraduate and graduate levels in Physical Education.

- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses
- Advise undergraduate /graduate majors
- Conduct research
- Publish scholarly work
- Seek external funding
- Supervise candidate and interns in field placements and internships
- Make presentations at conferences and workshops
- Serve on committees for the department, college and university
- Collaborate with P-12 community
- Provide community service in P-12 settings
- Perform other duties as assigned
An earned Doctorate degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field is required. Teaching and practical experience are also required. Individuals who are ABD with the remaining to be completed within a year of employment will be considered.
It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications as faculty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc., the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human Resources, and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
