What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Alabama STEM Foundation?
GENERAL SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Operations is responsible for implementing policies approved by the board, manages the organization’s programs and operations, and represents the organization in the community building relationships with stakeholders and securing philanthropic support that helps fuel the organizations mission. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills, a track record in nonprofit fundraising, and a passion for improving STEM Education in Alabama.
DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Planning, scheduling and strategizing project goals.
2. Managing project budgets.
3. Leading fundraising efforts.
4. Invoicing and data entry of contributions made by donors and investors.
5. Assist with engaging current stakeholders and identifying new prospects.
6. Supervising and organizing volunteers.
7. Preparing progress reports including milestones and deadlines and analyzing results to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and volunteers.
8. Assist the board of directors with board meetings and other official meetings as needed.
9. Responsible for follow-up to calls and emails to ensure stakeholders receive prompt response.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Passion for STEM education and a commitment to advancing the goals of the Alabama STEM Foundation.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
• Work with fundraising software and tools to track progress throughout the year.
• Thorough understanding of project management techniques and methods.
• Must be able to work with a significant amount of detailed information in an accurate, timely and highly confidential manner.
• Analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities.
• Outstanding knowledge of data analysis, reporting and budgeting.
• Strong skills in word processing and spreadsheet.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A high level of interpersonal skills in order to represent the organization in a professional manner at all times.
• May be required to work earlier or later than the normal work day.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM education, nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
COMPENSATION:
• This is a part-time, contract position with an hourly rate ranging from $35 to $50, based on knowledge, experience, and qualifications.
