About the Job

The Spirits, Wine, and High-End Brand Manager is responsible for the recruiting, strategy, communication, execution and quality of the portfolio. They will assist with the efforts and training of the entire sales team. They serve to create and maintain the company’s interest, enthusiasm and loyalty for their respective portfolio. The Brand Manager is to direct the advertising and sales promotion of the brands within their portfolio. They will be jointly responsible for establishing effective incentive programs and contests for sales personnel. The Brand Manager reports directly to the DOS.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Establish and grow the portfolio by recruiting brands to be reviewed by upper management, establishing SOPs for spirits sales calls, determining how brands are approved, what’s needed to be available in the ABC stores, how payments are made, how the approval process works and create standards for market roll outs.
  • To help determine and be thoroughly familiar with sales objectives, procedures, responsibilities and sales management controls for the Sales Department, as it relates to their brands.
  • To put into action the sales and merchandising programs, drives, projects and promotions. To determine proper timing for the concerted efforts. They will evaluate results to continuously improve programming.
  • To counsel with the Director of Sales, Area Managers, and salespeople; giving them advice and guidance based on evaluations. To be available at any time to help them solve major problems. To praise initiative and success. To point out weaknesses and encourage corrective action.
  • To provide sales training and brand indoctrination for the Sales Team by accompanying them to retail outlets for the purpose of on-the-job training and power selling. Emphasis will be on “how to” as well as selling strategy.
  • To assign specific key accounts for development.
  • In conjunction with the DOS, establish sales and distribution quotas for the Area Managers and sales team. The Brand Manager will create MBOS and incentives based off Alabev and supplier needs.
  • To establish and maintain a competitive point of sale and merchandising program as the material at hand allows. POS must be programmed and conserved to make sure the available investment is properly utilized. They will ensure that a perpetual inventory is maintained on permanent POS.
  • To direct price promotions so that AlaBev is competitive in trade advertisements, on the shelf, in the cooler and on displays.
  • To establish and maintain good trade relations with key volume retailers (package & draft) chain buyers and the State of Alabama ABC board.
  • To work with supplier representatives in a reasonable way to see that their duties and activities are properly executed. This includes internal activity, training, brain storming strategy, cross promotion, mixology, trade contact, tastings, and events.
  • The Brand Manager will comply with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • The Brand Manager is designated the QA manager for his Brands and will be responsible for rotation and the freshest product available as outlined in our Product Quality Care and Procedures policy.
  • The Brand Manager will see that competitive point of sale and merchandising activity is established on all routes. They will follow up to see that displays are booked, properly constructed and merchandised.
  • The Brand Manager will meet or exceed the monthly requirements of Warehouse Walks, Key Account Calls, Work Withs and MBO compliance.
  • The Brand Manager will present on Weekly Sales Calls as well as any other calls that management see hit.
  • The Brand Manager is responsible for working in an outer market once a month.
  • The Brand Manager will be required to be in the market 50% of the time.
  • Any other duties as assigned by AlaBev management.
