QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) High School Diploma or GED.
(2) Valid CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
(3) CNA/EMT certificate or Completion of District approved School Health Tech Course.
(4) Clerical and filing skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to carry out job responsibilities and handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to operate a computer and utilize software applications for data entry.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and appropriate computerized health records.
Ability to administer medication and basic first aid after appropriate training.
Ability to tolerate the presence of body fluids and handle such under CDC Universal Precautions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
*(1) Administer or assist with the administration of medications to students according to policies and procedures established by the Board; maintain required documentation accurately and completely.
*(2) Handle health emergency situations appropriately per Board Health Services protocol.
*(3) Pursuant to the Technical Assistance Guidelines from the Florida Department of Health for school health services, provide non-nursing health care services for children in school, including but not limited to first aide, non-sterile catheterization, blood glucose and carbohydrate monitoring, administration of emergency injectable medication, gastrostomy feedings, and emptying ostomy bags and maintain appropriate documentation. This does not include invasive medical services, such as: sterile catheterization, nasogastric tube feeding, and tracheostomy care.
*(4) Document health screening results in coordination with school nurse
*(5) Maintain strict confidentiality of student records.
*(6) Adhere to applicable safety standards.
*(7) Attend all staff meetings and workshops.
*(8) Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
*(9) Be knowledgeable of and adhere to Board policies and departmental procedures.
*(10) Communicate effectively with the public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
*(11) Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
*(12) Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement. Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
*(13) Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
*(14) Demonstrate support for the school district and its goals and priorities.
*(15) Exhibit interpersonal skills as an effective team member.
*(16) Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
*(17) Maintain expertise in assigned area.
