POSITION PURPOSE
- Support Monitored Former Multilingual Learners (MFMLs) up to four years after exiting ML status (per federal guidelines) at assigned ABSS middle school sites.
- Document how the student is performing in core academic courses, behavior, and attendance and collaborate with school personnel, the student, and family to provide support related to the student's overall success towards graduation.
- Provide additional compliance supports for MLs and MFMLs as needed at assigned school sites.
Required Qualifications
Certification in ESL K-12 Education (priority with secondary teaching experiences)Detail Oriented, organized and ability to meet specific deadlinesMinimum of 10 years successful teaching experienceAbility to analyze and interpret student data to provide a plan of support for each MFMLEDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Certification in ESL K-12 EducationFamiliarity with or ability to learn Local, State, and Federal compliance requirementsBachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field for applicable level(s)Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.CERTIFCATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must hold a valid Teacher's License issued by the state of NC in applicable field and for level assignedMust not be on the NCDPI list of teachers no longer qualified to teach and / or must not be currently engaged in a certification revocation hearing processMust possess a valid driver's license issued by the NC Department of Motor VehiclesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple sites with multiple stakeholders.Experience with curriculum and sequencing of early English language development integrated with content areas.Spanish SpeakingESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Position entails significant walking, bending, standing, stooping and possible interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment. Assignment may require the ability to physically move students or equipment, position students in specialized equipment, change diapers as needed and / or perform skilled nursing procedures. (e.g. feeding tubes)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this position are required to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with ABSS staff, students and the public.
