The Community Resource Coordinator/Counselor plays a vital role in promoting student success by connecting students with essential resources to address their basic needs while also providing short-term counseling services and wellness programs to support mental health. This position collaborates with community agencies to build a strong support network, helping students navigate transportation, food, housing, childcare and financial resources. Additionally, the coordinator serves as a key resource for students in crisis, offering counseling and crisis intervention and referrals to appropriate mental health services.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist students in identifying and accessing community resources for transportation, food, housing, childcare and financial assistanceRefer students to appropriate programs to apply for federal and state benefitsDevelop and maintain partnerships with local agencies and nonprofit organizations to expand available student resourcesProvide short-term, solution-focused counseling for students experiencing personal, academic or mental health challengesOffer crisis intervention and connect students to appropriate community mental health services. Coordinate and/or facilitate mental health awareness programs, workshops and trainings for students, faculty and staff.Collaborate with the financial aid office to determine student eligibility for Finish Line Grants and emergency assistance.Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation in compliance with data tracking systems and ethical standards.Participate in campus-wide programming such as orientation, open house and student support service eventsPerform other student development duties as assigned.Some evening and weekend work required Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
