The Coordinator, Instructional Technology & Design role in the Center for Development and Leadership (CDL) is pivotal in supporting Alamance Community College’s curriculum and workforce development/continuing education efforts by collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance teaching and learning experiences. The position provides support, training, and assistance related to designing within the Learning Management System (LMS). Additionally, this position will contribute to enhancing academic excellence across various teaching modes, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face classroom settings, and work in coordination with the Director of Distance Learning and the VP of Workforce and Economic Development . The Coordinator, Instructional Technology & Design’s responsibilities shall include but are not limited to collaborating closely with faculty to design and develop courses, leading professional development initiatives, providing employee and student training and support, and ensuring digital accessibility compliance while adhering to the Alamance Community College (ACC) online course standards, performing quality assurance reviews, and integrating instructional design principles, educational technology, and evidence-based teaching practices to enhance student learning and success. This role is committed to creating an enriched learning experience for all students

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Technology-Enhanced Curriculum Development & Faculty Support
- Collaborate on Technology-Enhanced Course Design: Work closely with faculty to design, develop, and maintain courses that integrate instructional technology (e.g., LMS tools, multimedia resources, AI applications) for enriched learning experiences.
- Educational Technology Integration: Lead initiatives to implement and train faculty on cutting-edge educational technologies, including AI and emerging digital tools.
- Ongoing Tech Consultation: Serve as the primary consultant for faculty on innovative technologies for teaching, learning, and course delivery, ensuring courses are accessible, interactive, and engaging.
2. Faculty Engagement & Development
- Technology-Focused Professional Development: Design and deliver professional development sessions (both web-based and in-person) that focus on instructional technology use, pedagogical practices, and tools like LMS, multimedia platforms, and AI.
- Faculty Support: Actively engage faculty in using instructional technologies through consultations, workshops, and ongoing tech support.
3. Online Course Training and Support
- LMS and Course Operational Support: Assist the Director of Distance Learning (LMS Administrator) with technology-based tasks such as course setup, enrollment, and content management within the LMS platform when needed. Assist with LMS operations, specifically user training and technical support, and ensure all users (faculty and students) are proficient in utilizing LMS tools for content delivery, course management, and assessments.
- Training Material Development: Create comprehensive, tech-driven training resources for LMS users, ensuring accessibility and ease of use for all stakeholders.
4. Quality Assurance in Tech-Enabled Learning
- Course Technology & Design Audits: Conduct regular audits to ensure course technology and design are current and compliant with standards like ADA, Universal Design, and Quality Matters.
- Tech-Driven Course Evaluations: Continuously review courses to assess technological effectiveness and adherence to online learning best practices.
5. Continuous Technological Improvement & Research
- Emerging Technology Research: Continuously explore new instructional tools and technologies, evaluating their relevance to current instructional practices and recommending improvements for their integration into courses.
- Innovative Tech Solutions: Analyze challenges in the digital learning environment and recommend innovative solutions that leverage instructional technology.
6. Project Leadership & Technology Adoption
- Lead Technology-Enhanced Projects: Apply project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) to lead technology-driven projects related to course design, faculty development, or the implementation of new learning technologies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Ensure stakeholders (faculty, administrators, and team members) are well-informed about project progress, goals, and outcomes, particularly in relation to technological adoption.
7. Outreach, Collaboration & Technological Advocacy
- Cross-Campus Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to promote a culture of excellence in digital teaching practices, helping integrate instructional technologies into broader campus initiatives.
- Technology Advocacy: Serve as a campus advocate for the effective use of instructional technology by representing the College at local, state, and national conferences, and by participating in relevant committees.
8. Documentation & Strategic Contribution
- Technical Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation on technology tools, usage guidelines and best practices, job aids, and contribute to the CDL’s Standard of Operating Procedures.
- Strategic Technology Planning: Play an active role in shaping the CDL’s technology-driven initiatives that align with the College’s strategic goals.
Communication
- Communicate both written and verbal in a clear, concise manner.
- Write reports and provide instructions and procedures through multiple forms of software and technology tools.
- Communicate concepts through the development and delivery of presentations.
- Proactively develop relationships with other areas of the College to disseminate key information in the right format and establish contacts to facilitate future exchange of information.
Service Delivery
- Provide proactive, professional service to employees, students, prospective students, and other stakeholders.
- Provide a wide range of teaching and learning support activities within established procedures and processes to maximize academic excellence, service quality, efficiency, and continuity.
- Optimize service and support within the College through continuous monitoring and improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- May be required to coach/train others within the department to help them acquire the relevant skills and experience needed to be successful.
- Attend various internal and external committees and working groups, representing the department.
Planning/Organizing
- Plan and prioritize own work, considering resources and tools needed to accomplish the Center for Development and Leadership objectives.
- Reprioritize work according to demand and workload.
- May provide input and the long-term plans and programs of work of the Center for Development and Leadership and Student Learning Division.

Typical Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of higher education teaching experience, preferably with online teaching experience
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard) and other instructional technologies.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design models, educational theory, and adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to create accessible learning materials that comply with ADA and Section 508 guidelines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
