Position Opportunity
We are seeking a Packaging Engineer with 2-5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, preferably within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing packaging solutions to ensure product safety, efficiency, and sustainability while meeting company standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions for food and beverage products.
- Work cross-functionally with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Marketing to develop packaging that meets functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and test packaging materials to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and sustainability goals.
- Collaborate with suppliers to assess material specifications, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead packaging trials, assess performance metrics, and document results to support commercialization efforts.
- Identify and implement automation and efficiency improvements in packaging processes to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes to recommend innovations and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support sustainability initiatives by identifying eco-friendly packaging alternatives and improving recyclability of current packaging materials.
- Develop packaging specifications, technical drawings, and testing protocols to ensure consistency and quality in production.
- Troubleshoot packaging-related production issues and provide solutions to maintain operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Related Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in packaging engineering within a manufacturing or CPG environment.
Knowledge/Skills Experience:
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, design principles, and testing methods.
- Experience with food-grade packaging and knowledge of FDA, USDA, and other regulatory requirements is a plus.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for designing packaging components.
- Knowledge of packaging automation, machinery, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
