What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Specialist-Outdoor Learning Environment position at Alamance Partnership for Children?
Summary
The Alamance Partnership for Children is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to “help every young child grow, learn, and thrive”. We offer programming for Alamance County children, from birth through five years old, and their families. The Partnership is the local administrator for Smart Start and NC Pre-Kindergarten funds. The position is full-time and located in the Glencoe Mill district.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Partnership’s Child Care Services Manager, the Specialist:
- Develops and maintains the Outdoor Learning Environment.
- Serves as the OLE’s ambassador to the community.
- Schedules and promotes outdoor learning training for child care providers.
- Facilitates Nature Explorers Playgroups.
- Facilitate field trips for child care centers and family child care homes.
- Promotes and schedules use of the Outdoor Learning Environment.
- Builds long-term relationships with staff of child care facilities through phone calls, on-site technical assistance (TA), and training. Provides intensive TA using the Preschool Outdoor Environment Measurement Scale (POEMS).
- Serves as a resource to the child care community by promoting professional development events.
- Collaborates with community organizations and area residents to provide resources for the OLE.
- Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with the community.
- Serves as a liaison to the state licensing and child care health consultants.
- Collects detailed, accurate, and organized program and participant data as required.
Education/Experience/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development, and Family Studies, or a related field. At least two years of early childhood education classroom experience in licensed programs, preferably across the birth to five age range. Knowledge of the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education rules and regulations. Experience with the Environment Rating Scales and the NC Foundations of Early Learning and Development. Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and regular access to an automobile.
Compensation
This is a non-exempt, 35-hour-a-week position. The Partnership offers a robust benefits package, including paid health, dental, and vision insurance, a Flexible Spending Account, and vacation and sick days. A 401K plan with employer contributions is available after the first year.
