Job Summary
The Project Specialist will support the Superintendent's Office, Board of Education, Communications, and Policy teams on a daily basis by conducting research, responding to Public Records requests, processing Inter District Transfer and Expulsion appeals, coordinating meetings and events, and performing other duties as assigned. Attention to detail, responsiveness, oral and written communication, and the ability to take the initiative on complex projects requiring collaboration across teams are essential skills for this position.
Requirements / Qualifications
THE POSITION: The job of Project Specialist is done for the purpose/s of providing general planning, coordination, and support services to the assigned division. The Project Specialist works in collaboration with a variety of school and agency staff to develop systems, procedures, materials, and supports to assist the Alameda County Office of Education to meet its goals. The Project Specialist facilitates continuous improvement in assigned areas, including troubleshooting, planning, documenting, and training to assure that project requirements are fulfilled and implemented. This job reports to the Assigned Administrator.

TYPICAL DUTIES: Develops formats, processes, procedures, and systems for the purpose of implementing and monitoring the assigned projects. Prioritizes incoming projects and assists with developing project deliverables. Oversees the follow-up on project deliverables to ensure timelines are met. Assists in the development of communications and reporting in assigned areas. Organizes and facilitates committees and task forces of diverse membership. Plans and coordinates strategic agendas for ongoing meetings and special events. Conducts workshops and/or teaches classes for the purpose of providing information regarding project components and implementing project goals. Builds and maintains effective relationships with internal staff and outside agencies to ensure project success. Applies process and procedure improvement methods and tools to improve processes, aiming to exceed services, quality, and professional agency goals. Handles sensitive issues with confidentiality and minimal direction. Identifies opportunities to streamline and standardize work throughout various departments and agencies. Maintains an awareness of changes in organizational policies, procedures, and protocols. Identifies problems and seek solutions using appropriate resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Minimum of three (3) years job related experience in professional project management support is required. Experience in a school setting or public educational agency is preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
