Full job description
A solo ophthalmology practice in the heart of downtown Alameda is looking for an ophthalmic assistant to join our team.
We are seeking a motivated, dynamic, and conscientious individual who is enthusiastic about providing excellent service to patients. Prior clinical experience in a medical office, especially ophthalmology or optometry, is strongly preferred. Fluency in a second language (especially Spanish or Chinese) is preferred but not required.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- obtaining patient history and performing a basic initial exam including ocular vital signs
- performing tests and scans using ophthalmic devices (autorefraction, VF, OCT, biometry, topography, pachymetry, etc) and entering relevant data into the electronic medical record
- working with the physician to document exam findings during patient visits
- turning over exam rooms in between patients
- setting up and assisting in in-office procedures and laser surgeries
- performing instrument sterilization and maintaining inventory of clinical and surgical supplies
- outpatient surgery scheduling and obtaining prior authorizations
- cross-training in front desk duties, including check-in and check-out and answering phone calls
- assisting in practice-related projects on an ongoing basis
Additional Requirements:
- high school diploma or equivalent
- 1 yrs of experience in a customer service field, including healthcare, retail, and others
- proficient in basic computing, word processing, and faxing/copying/scanning
- able to perform occasional light lifting (up to 25 lb)
- adhere to safety precautions including wearing a mask, frequent handwashing, and following sanitizing protocols
Salary : $21 - $27
