Position : Director of Finance & Administration
FLSA Status : Exempt, Full Time
Reports to : Executive Director
Salary Range : $115,000 to $135,000
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance directs, administers and coordinates the financial and operations related activities of the organization in support of policies, goals and objectives established by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Guides and directs the management of the organization’s financial matters. Responsible for providing complete and accurate financial reports to the Executive Director, Finance & Administration Committee, Board of Directors and funders on a monthly basis.
- Ensures organizational compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Auditing Standards and the Uniform Guidance to assure compliance with our government contracts.
- Directs the preparation of short-term and long-term plans and budgets based on the organization’s goals and objectives. Assist Directors in producing annual budgets and quarterly projections by activity; monitors and periodically updates these budgets. Participates in the development of and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introductions of new programs and capital projects.
- Directs, implements and monitors processes and procedures related to all financial activities including :
- Regular cash flow projections.
- Monthly invoicing of contracts and grants.
- Allocation of staff time and overhead costs to all projects.
- Payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely payment of wages and reporting of withholdings.
- Monthly reconciliation of bank statements and all general ledger balance sheet and revenue accounts.
- Vendor bidding and contract system.
- Management of the organization’s investments.
- Works closely with outside CPA firms on annual audits and Federal State filing requirements.
- Respond to and develop correction action plans for audit findings.
- Accounts payable and receivable functions
- Develop and maintain internal control polices and procedures to assure compliance with our government contracts and GAAP.
- Directs and oversees efficient office operations including :
- Creates structures and processes necessary to manage the organization’s current activities and projected growth.
- Supervises the design of hardware and software systems to assist with the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct reports are defined and understood.
