Job Summary and Description
Under direct supervision, serves in a leadership role in the Alamo Colleges District’s Police Department. Works in, rotates through, and backs up other officers in each of the Department’s divisions (Patrol, Administrative, and Emergency Services). May supervise police officers and civilian staff.
Reports to the District Department of Public Safety.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
- Four years of experience as a licensed peace officer.
- One year of supervisory experience while serving as a licensed peace officer.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree.
- Eight years of experience as a licensed peace officer.
- Experience as a patrol sergeant and/or investigator.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license. Must be insurable through Alamo Colleges’ insurers.
- Licensed as a peace officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) or have successfully completed the TCOLE reactivation examination two or more years ago.
- Must have an Intermediate Peace Officer proficiency certification from TCOLE.
- Prefer Advanced Peace Officer proficiency certification from TCOLE.
Motor Vehicle Report is required in addition to background check and drug screen.
