Position Summary:
The Safety Specialist position will be responsible for facilitating the continuous safety improvement efforts at our Winn Michigan manufacturing facility. This will include enforcing all company environmental, health and safety regulations and guidelines and inspecting workplaces and processes to ensure compliance. Reports to the HR Manager.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Create effective methods to measure safety standards in the workplace.
- Conduct job safety analysis and risk assessments.
- Conduct safety inspections on a routine basis to detect existing or potential hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Conduct investigations of employee related incidents/ accidents.
- Address any workplace-related health issues, accidents or injuries.
- Suggest revisions to safety programs, policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Understand EPA, EGLE and various environmental programs to ensure company compliance with their agency reporting.
- Participate and support company environmental and sustainability initiatives and reporting.
- Chair our internal safety committee.
- Will be a member of our safety training team and provide training to new and current employees.
- Develop and maintain a health and safety-oriented work culture among employees.
- Other daily tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in related field is required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent work experience outlined below will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum 5 years of previous work experience in the health and safety field is required.
- Manufacturing work experience is a plus.
- OSHA Certification is required (can be obtained after employment begins)
- First Aid/ CPR Certification is required (will be provided by the Company after employment begins)
