Alamo Roadway Materials (ARM), a branch of Clark Construction of Texas, is a thermoplastic manufacturing company specializing in producing Preformed and Spray Thermoplastics. ARM is looking to hire a Logistics Associate to work with our Senior Logistics & Inventory Coordinator in conjunction with our production plants in receiving and shipping, inventory and stock control of onsite and off-site inventory of raw materials and finished goods that are ready to ship to the customer.
Job description:
· Reports to and assists Senior Logistics & Inventory Coordinator in meeting daily responsibilities and tasks of planning, scheduling, and coordinating loads of products to customers in an office setting using a desktop computer, and software.
· Corresponds with sales department staff, and production plant manager regarding customer orders.
· Plans trailer space using 48' and/or 53' flatbed, and dry van trailers for loads based on product dimensions and weights, weather, and load security: schedules appointment for pickup and delivery with carriers for full truckloads (FTL), less than truckloads (LTL), and hotshot shipments throughout Texas and the United States.
· Ensures customer order is in stock and ready to ship prior to requesting carrier assets and sets requirements for load security when coordinating shipments.
· Inputs and updates Excel order tracker, and schedules appointments via Outlook Calendar for order pickup and delivery.
· Drafts and prepares Bills of Lading (BOL) using MS Word; may provide shipping labels, packing slips, and other documents as required for shipment.
· Tracks shipment via carrier web-portals, email, phone, and text messaging; updates sales team, and/or customer on delivery as needed.
· Assists in maintaining an accurate physical inventory of raw materials and finished goods in the product yard, and warehouses as products are received, produced, and shipped.
· Communicates with carriers, and third-party services to reconcile shipping, and invoicing issues.
· Occasionally loads/unloads a variety of trucks and trailers.
· Occasionally operates a forklift, pallet jack, and uses banding/wrapping equipment to prepare product for shipping.
· Performs as backup to Senior Logistics & Inventory Coordinator in their absence as needed.
· Assists production plant when needed to meet production schedule.
Requirements and Qualifications:
· High School graduate, or equivalent required.
· Must have a valid drivers’ license, and own reliable transportation.
· Required skills in transportation planning, shipping and receiving, and warehouse experience.
· Required to obtain Forklift license within 30 to 60 days of hire.
· Required and able to work a flexible 8-hour schedule, with the possibility of overtime, and as needed on occasional weekend days.
· Required keyboarding skills of 35wpm, and proficiency in using computers.
· Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Calendar with ability to learn other software platforms.
· Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and conversions.
· Good people skills with all levels of management.
· Ability to work in a team environment, willingness to learn, and to be cross-functional.
· Good organizational, time-management, and record keeping skills.
· Ability to work safely and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
Physical Effort, Dexterity and Working Conditions:
· Frequent sitting, standing, bending/twisting of neck and waist, squatting and kneeling.
· Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects from floor.
· Ability to lift 10-75 lbs. throughout shift.
· Work environment encompasses all areas of a Warehouse Distribution Center.
· This position may require work in hot and cold temperature extremes with exposure to rain, dust, dirt, fumes, noise, potentially harmful chemicals, solvents, and components, and working near other teammates.
· Ability to use proper PPE (eye protection, hearing protection, protective suit, gloves, and safety shoes) as needed or required.
Our ideal candidate:
· Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience from civilian and/or military service in any of the following areas: transportation and logistics, warehouse operations, and manufacturing that included, scheduling the receipt of raw materials, calendar scheduling, and load planning, and shipping finished goods.
· Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Calendar.
· Required to type 35 wpm or more.
· Required transportation planning in shipping and receiving with the ability to plan loads of various pallet dimensions, and weights, as well as coordinating the correct truck/trailer asset for the load.
· Familiar with Department of Transportation regulations regarding commercial line-haul trucking, and transportation of Hazardous Materials.
· Knowledge of Bills of Lading (BOL), Material Data Sheets (MDS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Hazardous Material regulations and requirements.
· Knowledge of warehouse operations with the ability to apply and practice safety in a warehouse material handling environment.
· Ability to work as a team member, and to build and maintain a positive working relationship with management, customers, vendors, carriers, and co-workers.
· Have previous Forklift experience, and a current license.
Benefits:
· Job Type: Full time, 40 hours per week, Non-Exempt, some overtime.
· Pay based on experience. Hourly: $17.50 - $18.50.

Schedule: Monday – Friday: 7:00am to 4:00pm; 8-hour shift.
Work Location: San Antonio, Texas, with the ability to work offsite as needed.
