Position Summary:

Alamon, Inc. seeks a Fiber Splicer for its Wireless Service department.
This position entails: Terminating and testing aerial and underground fiber optic systems, updating and maintaining project tracking information, such as production sheets, time sheets, and customer required paperwork. Additional responsibilities include performing all aspects of the project in accordance with EIA / TIA standards and applicable building codes. The Fiber Splicer will be responsible for prepping and splicing fiber optic cable. Familiar with fiber optic closures, OTDR testing, Optical power meter and Fiber Identifier. Must be able to splice, test, and repair fiber optic cables as well as read, create, and maintain splicing diagrams.

Job Description
- Prepare various types and sizes of fiber optic cables for splicing.
- Read and decipher fiber designs and schematics.
- Operate fiber optic testing equipment. Including the ability to read and understand the test results for troubleshooting purposes.
- Interact with project managers, engineers, and coordinate with customers regarding changes in plans including scope changes and communicating those changes to the project manager.
- Install fiber optic cable and related equipment including junction boxes, splice cases and fiber distribution panels.
- Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation.
- Be able to copper splice and install aerial, and UG enclosures for DC power.
- Ensure all installations and network components meet industry standards, company guidelines and regulatory equipment.
- Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
- Field train, assist and communicate with new and experienced splicers.
- Have a general knowledge of safe traffic control practices,
- Safely operate and use a bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments, as needed (potentially climb poles and gaffing experience is a plus!).
- Experience entering 3rd party manholes and abiding by safety requirements as well as determining splice case installation feasibility.
- Maintain daily production logs, production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete "as-built maps" for areas built and track daily production.
- Reconcile all issued parts and materials daily to ensure accurate material usage counts.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities to successfully complete job tasks while accepting full responsibility for the safe operations and maintenance of the vehicle, equipment, and tools.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Applicants are required to pass a pre- employment drug test, submit to a background check, and adhere to all OSHA, state, city / municipality safety requirements.
- Must have a clean driving record with no DUI / DWI in the last 5 years.
- Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends.
- Ability to lift and utilize heavy equipment safely.
- Able to lift 75 pounds.
- Must be able to keep up with the physical demands of the job.
- Must be comfortable with working at heights up to 500 feet.
Work Environment:
- Work environment is in both an indoor and outdoor environment, depending on the job site.
- May be subject to noise levels which may range from low volume to loud.
- Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
- This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Physical Demands:
- Where appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs or more.
- Must be able to traverse and work in all areas of the job site. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple flights of stairs while carrying materials.
- Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to and from job sites.
- Must be comfortable working in cramped and / or enclosed space for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
Travel Requirements:
- Extensive travel will be required for this position.
- Lodging and transportation are provided while traveling and working out of town for the company.
Education and Experience:
- Highschool Diploma or GED Preferred
- Conduit installation and pipe bending for EMT, rigid, and PVC conduit.
- Understand local code requirements for work.
- Five or more years of experience in construction.
