Alamon, Inc. seeks a Telecom Field Technician 2 for its Network Services department.
This position entails: installation, testing, and setup of high-performance network hardware, including Nokia routers, fiber taps, traffic aggregators, and client server systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with EDPs (Engineering Design Packages), MOPs (Method of Procedures), and industry standards, ensuring top-quality installations and reliability for Alamon's clients. The Telecom Installation Technician 2 must have with a proven track record in Central Office, MTSO, or data center environments.

Job Description:
- Nokia Router Installation: Install and configure Nokia 7220/7250/7750 series routers per project requirements.
- Server Setup: Install and configure client server systems in Central Office, data center, or MTSO environments.
- Fiber Tap & Traffic Aggregator Installation: Set up passive fiber taps and traffic aggregators for network monitoring and traffic management.
- Optical Module Setup: Install and secure QSFPs and other optical network modules as specified.
- Rack Layout Compliance: Follow detailed rack layouts for organized and precise equipment placement.
- Power Supply Installation: Install DC and AC power supply units, ensuring secure connections and adherence to safety standards.
- Power and Grounding: Establish DC/AC power and grounding cabling, following all safety protocols.
- Cable Installation & Management: Clean, prepare, and install fiber and Ethernet cables, organizing and lacing cables to industry standards.
- Connectivity Setup: Connect fiber, MPO, and Ethernet cables in line with EDPs and project layouts.
- Equipment Labeling: Label all equipment, ports, and connections clearly for future identification.
- Documentation: Review and implement EDPs and MOPs meticulously to ensure accuracy in all installations.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
- Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions, lifting or moving up to 50lbs., and hiking over various terrain.
- Possess a current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years.
- Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
- Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
Work Environment:
- The position requires visiting customer sites nationwide, with indoor and outdoor work based on contract specifications.
- Exposure to various environmental conditions, including dust, noise, and wet surfaces, is possible.
- Adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Physical Demands:
- Must possess the physical strength and stamina to perform duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of working in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Ability to navigate job sites, including climbing, bending, kneeling, and traversing diverse terrains.
- Must distinguish colors and shades when working with multi-colored cabling.
Travel Requirements:
- Extensive travel is a core aspect of this role; lodging will be provided during assignments.
Education and Experience:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in telecom installation, ideally within Central office, MTSO or data center environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Nokia routers (7220/7250/7750), server installations, and power management.
- Education: Associate degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Nokia SRC, CompTIA Network , or similar are preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of fiber, Ethernet, and MPO connections; proficiency in interpreting EDPs and MOPs.
- Work Environment: Ability to work in Central office, data centers or MTSOs, and comfortable with off-hours or on-call support as needed.
