Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive legal support and administration to attorneys and other legal professionals specializing in personal injury law. This position requires proficiency in both English and Spanish.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Perform legal and factual research, including records research
- Organize and maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical
- Schedule appointments and maintain calendars for staff
- Coordinate meetings and prepare necessary materials
- Answer phone calls and manage correspondence (emails, mail)
- Review legal forms and documents for accuracy
- Maintain and organize reference files and track case files
- Coordinate office activities to ensure smooth operations
- Provide general administrative support to the team
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of front desk secretarial experience; an equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles, research techniques, and legal terminology.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, printers, scanners, and computers.
- Experience working with databases and online technological platforms.
- Detail-oriented, diligent, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Capable of managing conflicting time demands and completing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in both English and Spanish, with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies.
