We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead all payroll administration operations for a rapidly growing privately held American construction and environmental services contractor located in Central Georgia. This role will lead a team of payroll professionals responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing of both union and non-union personnel, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and automating process improvements related to payroll and benefit payments.
Essential Job Functions :
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness for multi-site operations located throughout the US.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of payroll and accounting specialists, fostering professional growth and career advancement.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws, and oversee the implementation of internal controls to mitigate risks.
- Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures that align with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to reconcile payroll data and ensure alignment with financial records.
- Manage payroll system upgrades and implementations, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruption.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports, summaries, and analyses for senior management.
- Oversee month-end and year-end payroll activities, including the preparation and distribution of W-2s and benefit payments.
- Address and resolve complex payroll inquiries and discrepancies promptly.
- Analyze payroll metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with HR to effectively manage all HRIS software to ensure timely payment of employee benefits, Workmen’s Compensation claims, pensions, garnishments, 401(k), etc.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, and external auditors during payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
