Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety & DOT Compliance Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This position requires a strong understanding of compliance frameworks, particularly in areas such as workers' compensation law, occupational health, and safety regulations. The Safety & DOT Compliance Coordinator will work collaboratively across departments to promote a culture of compliance and risk management.
Duties
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Provide support for Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives within the oil and gas industry, as well as ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to assist area management and employees as required.
- Ensures safety and compliance with federally administered regulations by enforcing rules for equipment, vehicles, and transport employees, while also maintaining current and valid permits and licenses.
- Conduct thorough investigations into compliance issues and incidents, utilizing root cause analysis to identify underlying problems.
- Develop and implement training programs related to compliance topics, including workers' compensation and occupational health.
- Prepare detailed reports on compliance status, incidents, and recommendations for improvement.
- Responsible for identifying and assessing areas of compliance risk; assisting in setting ethical principles; developing and implementing education programs in compliance and safety.
- Responsible for safety training and skill assessment to include on-boarding new hire orientation training and remedial training and maintaining compliance with regulations.
- Serve as point of contact on location for safety and compliance.
- Conduct safety meetings, training, and review for employees and owner/operators.
- Will assist in lowering EMR and DOT scores.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date health and safety systems required by our clients (ISN, TPS, VeriforceOne, Foley...)
- Coordinate Pre-Employment Testing for Employee/applicants who receive offers of employment.
- Respond to and report on-site emergencies, including near-miss incidents, and participate in investigations.
- Prepare weekly reports and conduct field audits on a routine basis.
- Research and recommend compliance and safety trends while maintaining accurate and up-to-date knowledge of all health and safety laws and regulations.
- Will be required to regularly drive to field facilities within the region.
- Will regularly use a computer to create, record, store, revise and save documentation needed to perform their role.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in legislation affecting compliance requirements.
- Assist in the fabrication of policies and procedures that promote a safe and compliant workplace.
- Provide guidance on best practices for maintaining workplace safety and health standards.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation law, occupational health regulations, OSHA standards, and EPA guidelines.
- A bachelor's or associate degree in occupational health and safety, science, engineering, business or related discipline.
- 3 years' work experience in a Health and Safety position in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis and developing effective training programs.
- Proficient in report writing with the ability to clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
- Certification in CPR is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Applied knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Comprehension of English and Spanish, including written and verbal communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and computer skills.
