W&D Helper

Location: Forest, VA

Hours: 

2nd Shift 3PM-11PM

Responsibilities and Activities:

• Sorts mail off the end of a production machine. 

• Sorts and insert tags into mail trays. 

• Rewinds rolls of stamps for use on the production machine. 

• Uses a pallet jack to move finished pallets of mail.

• Meets and exceeds production standards and maintains customer quality requirements.

• Communicates job status and production concerns/issues during shift change. 

• Follows all safety policies and procedures. 

• Adheres to all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 

• Communicates with the Operator and/or Supervisor on any problems on the production machine. 

• Works with urgency when equipment is down to maintain production requirements. 

• Continues learning new and improved processes to achieve increased production. 

• Facilitates teamwork among team members and between shifts. 

• Performs additional responsibilities as required to ensure the team's success.

Position Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role with electrical and mechanical expertise

• Effective problem-solving abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Well-organized with the ability to prioritize tasks

• Ability to perform physical requirements including bending, repetitive motion, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 70 pounds

• Flexible schedule for overtime and weekends

• Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere

• Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and be accountable for quality produced

• Experience with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment such as inserters, conveyors, bowes, and forklifts

• Ability to run air lines, conduit, and wiring for new and relocated equipment

• Strong leadership traits, with the ability to train and mentor other Maintenance Technicians

• Ability to suggest improvements to upper management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and strong troubleshooting skills

• Ability to determine mechanical priorities and perform highly diversified duties such as installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment according to safety/OSHA guidelines

• Knowledge of predictive and productive maintenance systems

• Effective communicator with a positive attitude

• Ability to perform physical requirements including bending, repetitive motion, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 70 pounds

• Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere

• Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and be accountable for quality produced

• Adherence to safety procedures including lock-out/tag-out and HazCom

• Ability to follow all departmental Standard Operating Procedures
