Job Summary
The Print Shop Team Leader is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the print shop, ensuring efficient workflow, quality control, and timely completion of customer orders. This role involves leading a team of press operators and support staff, managing production schedules, troubleshooting issues, and implementing process improvements. The Team Leader is a key player in maintaining a safe and productive work environment while meeting or exceeding production goals and customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads, motivates, and guides a team of press operators and support staff.
- Assigns tasks, delegate responsibilities, and monitor performance.
- Provides training, coaching, and feedback to team members.
- Fosters a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Oversees daily operations within the print shop, including printing, cutting, folding, affixing, mail preparation, and digital printing.
- Manages production schedules and prioritizes work orders to meet customer deadlines.
- Monitors workflow through each production cell, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Ensures adherence to quality standards and specifications for all printed materials.
- Conducts regular quality checks to identify and address any errors or defects.
- Implements corrective actions to prevent future quality issues.
- Operates and maintains printing presses, cutters, folders, and other equipment in the print shop.
- Troubleshoots minor equipment malfunctions and collaborate with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and procedures within the print shop.
- Conducts regular safety training and inspections.
- Addresses safety concerns promptly and effectively.
- Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Stays up-to-date on new technologies and industry trends to optimize operations.
- Communicates effectively with team members, other departments, and management.
- Collaborates with the Press Manager to achieve production goals and meet customer expectations.
- Provides regular updates on production status, challenges, and successes.
- Monitors inventory levels of materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock for production.
- Orders materials and supplies as needed to prevent shortages.
- Performs additional responsibilities as required to ensure the financial team's success.
Position Qualifications:
- Prior leadership/management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial printing, postal regulations, and related terminology is preferred.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with co-workers and supporting staff.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to deal with frequent change while understanding the urgency in meeting deadlines
- Above average communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong PC skills including but not limited to Google Suite, Excel, etc.
- Forklift Training/License.
Shift: 5pm-5am
