Job Summary:


This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to continue or begin their career in the criminal justice, security, or life safety field. We are looking for candidates who are detail-oriented, motivated, have great customer service skills, and are passionate about helping others. This position has two main functions, the first includes responding to alarm signals that are dispatched by Central Station Operators in a timely manner. Allowing access to the Police/Fire Departments, resetting alarm systems, securing the building, and providing ADS customers with the professional service that they expect from the Company. The second part of this position is monitoring alarm signals, communicating with keyholders and customers, notating customer accounts, and dispatching ADS runners, law enforcement, fire departments, etc. In this position, it is important to serve our customers with a commitment to follow established policies, procedures, regulations, and ordinances in regard to monitoring homes, businesses, lives, etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


Runner:


  • Respond to alarm for customers with Runner Response Service
  • Responsible to conduct a perimeter check when police are not present. Look for open or broken doors or windows
  • Use of a 6’ or higher ladder if needed to reach device
  • Responsible to conduct an interior search of the building to find cause for alarm
  • Recognize when to wait and call for the police. It is not the responsibility of the runner to capture or chase a burglar
  • Allow access to the Fire Department to look for smoke. It is also the runner’s responsibility to reset the panel or call for service assistance if they cannot reset the panel
  • While not on runner calls the runner will assist the Operators in Central Station with answering phones and other clerical duties
  • Must be prepared to work in all weather
  • Follow all company rules and regulations as listed in the current ADS Employee Handbook
  • Responsible for onsite duties as assigned
  • Must be punctual and adhere to attendance standards
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Operator:


  • Priority one is to handle signals as soon and as accurately as possible
  • Verify authorized users
  • Notify proper authorities or key holders
  • Calling customers to test systems when their systems are late to test
  • Work with service and installers to verify signals are received correctly
  • Enter opening/closing schedules and zone descriptions
  • Check receivers for proper times, do backup tape daily and verify incoming activity for the Stealth logger, raw data and receivers
  • Notify and Fire Department of any commercial fire alarms out of service more than 8 hours.
  • Check on “unrestored” report each shift
  • Check systems that are out of service
  • Dispatch ADS or Chicago Runners as needed
  • Must be responsible to work assigned shift; which calls for arriving 5 minutes before shift and staying 5 minutes after shift has ended
  • In emergency situations you are to make a reasonable effort to be available to assist with signal overload
  • Follow all company rules and regulations as listed in the ADS Employee Handbook
  • Must be punctual and adhere to attendance standards
  • Responsible for onsite duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Education/Experience:


  • High School Education or equivalent is required
  • Previous dispatching experience is highly preferred
  • Previous customer service experience is highly preferred


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • Basic knowledge of alarm systems
  • Basic service ability
  • Attention to detail
  • Customer service
  • Ability to multi-task


Licenses/Certifications:


  • Clear and valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to obtain a Permanent Employee Registration Card from the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional (Illinois employees only)
