What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camera Preventative Maintenance Technician position at Alarm Detection Systems?
Job Summary:
This is a field service position. The Camera & Access PM Technician will perform inspections, modification, repair, cleaning and customer training duties at various customer locations within the ADS service area. The technician is expected to work independently and perform all work up to ADS’ quality standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on security cameras, video management systems (VMS), and related equipment.
- Perform visual inspections, clean camera lenses, housings, and connections to maintain image clarity.
- Check camera positioning, focus, and exposure settings; adjust as needed.
- Test and verify camera connectivity, power supply integrity, and network stability.
- Identify, document, and report any system defects, damage, or potential issues requiring corrective maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations for camera placement and functionality.
- Work collaboratively with the service and installation teams to recommend repairs or upgrades.
- Maintain accurate service logs and reports of completed maintenance tasks.
- Educate clients on proper camera usage and provide basic troubleshooting support as needed.
- Stay up to date with the latest surveillance technologies and preventative maintenance best practices.
- Responsible to read & follow all ADS safety procedures and policies as outlined in the ADS Employee Handbook
- Must have a flexible work schedule to allow for periodic after-hours or weekend appointments
- Must have the desire to advance into a Camera/Access Technician position
- Must be punctual and adhere to attendance standard
- Other duties as assigned by management
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Electronics &/or computer training is highly preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work independently
- Detail oriented with ability to maintain accurate records
- Above average customer service skills
- Must be familiar with operating computers & comfortable operating computer-based video systems
- Quality conscious
- Self-motivated
Licenses/Certifications:
- Clear and valid Driver’s License is required
- NICET video technitian certification (Level 1 & Level 2) or other related certifications are a plus
- Must be able to obtain a Permanent Employee Registration Card from the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (Illinois employees only)

The employee will work in a variety of environments. Work is performed at customer’s sites and the conditions will range from an office setting to plant/factory. The employee should be prepared to work in any environment. Any given customer may have specific requirements such as:

A Camera PM Technician is required to perform tasks indoors and outdoors during the entire year. The technician should be dressed appropriately to enable them to work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
