Alarm and Sonitrol New England seeks a high energy, culture creator to be its new head of people. This leader will initially take on all day-to-day operations of the human resources function but once they have mastered our industry and processes, will be tasked with innovation in the department. Reporting to the President, we are looking for a strategic leader who will help us build best in class culture, recruiting and ongoing employee training and development programs. Our company runs on EOS. The Entrepreneurial Operating System is how we organize our human energy in how we meet, solve problems, plan, prioritize, follow processes, communicate, measure, structure, clarify roles, lead and manage.
Essential Duties:
- Own culture for a 80 person technology and service organization.
- Build out and manage continuing employee education programs for sales, technician, and customer service roles.
- First manage and then create automatic administration of the performance review process in collaboration with managers.
- Manage the new hire and onboarding process as well as terminations and offboarding.
- Serve the team as a trusted resource for human resource related issues.
- Manage and maintain the company’s licensing processes and requirements as well as our apprentice program.
- Manage the safety and workers compensation program.
- Compliance with employment laws such as FMLA and all other applicable state and federal laws.
- Manage and maintain all aspects of our regulatory compliance programs.
- Manage employee benefit process and annual renewals - seeking an outsourced solution for monthly reconciliation portion of this process.
- Manage and file auto and workers compensation claims.
- Manage company 401K Plan.
- Update Employee Handbook as needed.
- Ensure there are robust recruitment and retention strategies, processes and procedures to attract and retain qualified staff including apprenticeship programs.
- Driving the hiring process for the company.
- Function as a strategic business advisor to management regarding employee relation issues.
- Work with executive management to maintain a comprehensive compensation and benefits plan that are competitive and cost-effective.
- Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the company’s mission and strategic vision.
- Develop HR plans and strategies to support the overall business operations objectives.
- Ensure HR records are in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations in the states where we do business.
- Maintain and renew company state and municipal contracts through the bidding process.
- Responsible for company culture initiatives like celebrations, parties and awards.
- Regular travel to spend time with team in 4 regional offices
Position Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate and interpret policies, procedures, etc. to personnel
- Ability to lead, plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, preferably in CT, MA and RI
- Knowledge of and experience with HR information systems
- Microsoft office suite or related software
Professional Experience/Educational Requirements
- Minimum of 5-8 years of HR experience
- Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- Regulatory compliance in the trades industry highly desired
