Safety Coordinator
Full-time, immediate hire opportunity, salary position
Alaska Central Express – Anchorage, AK
Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator will assist in administering the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program. This hands-on role involves interacting with all departments to implement and manage a proactive, behavior-based approach to safety and health. The Safety Coordinator will also manage and implement safety and health programs and training that comply with local, state, and federal standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist employees in effectively utilizing the company SMS to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company safety policies.
2. Develop and present relevant safety and health training.
3. Update company programs and training materials as required.
4. Manage company records, including OSHA 300 forms, inspections, and training records.
5. Conduct safety and health audits and inspections of all work areas on a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and/or annual basis.
6. Collaborate with management to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
7. Attend and participate in bi-weekly safety meetings.
8. Conduct and/or participate in incident investigations as requested.
9. Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards (including OSHA, ADEC, etc.).
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Associate's Degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health or a closely related field is highly preferred, or 2 years of experience in safety and health (not required).
3. Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations is preferred.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
5. Excellent communication and advisory skills.
6. Willingness to travel occasionally (once a month) to remote locations within Alaska (day trips only).
7. Ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
