Summary
As a Medical Biller/Coder at Alaska Colorectal Surgery, you will play a vital role in managing billing processes and ensuring accurate coding for patient services. This position is essential in supporting our commitment to high-quality patient care and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical billing claims accurately and timely to insurance companies.
- Utilize ICD-10 and other coding systems to ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Review and resolve billing discrepancies and denials from insurance payers.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their billing inquiries and payment options.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation for claims processing.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to billing activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and medical coding practices.
- Strong knowledge of CPT coding to include a CPC certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Understands the importance of speaking with the docs if there are coding questions.
