Primary Duty
Fleet Service Technicians (FST's) primary duties are to repair and maintain the exhaust and brake systems, transmissions and differentials, driveline assemblies, hydraulic and electrical systems, and other components of Alaska Communications' fleet vehicles and other specialized equipment. These duties are performed in both an indoor shop environment and outside equipment yards as well as offsite emergency repairs on location.

Essential Functions
Perform all duties of lower level FST.
Repair vehicles and other equipment including exhaust systems, brakes systems, transmissions and differentials, driveline assemblies, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components.
Diagnose and repair specialized aerial ladder trucks, utilizing hydraulic pressure testers and volt meters.
Perform welding and cutting as needed utilizing arc and gas welding tools.
Perform Journeyman level work in maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel
powered equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education And Experience Required
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years experience in all phases of automotive maintenance and repair at the journeyman mechanic level. Proficient in plasma and gas welding and cutting. Knowledge of diagnosis and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems. l/M certification required. Must have the appropriate tools to perform duties of this job, subject to inspection.
Certifications And Licenses Required
Must possess and maintain an Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with air brake endorsement, as well as a valid Certificate of Medical Examination (Medical Card), and pass a Drug and Alcohol Background check.
Must be able to lift 75 LBS and maneuver equipment and materials.
