Position Summary

The Senior Product Manager manages the full life cycle of assigned Enterprise products and services to meet the Company's revenue, profit, and other objectives. This includes managing, directing, planning, and coordinating activities for the Network Security & Cloud product line for our Enterprise business and ensures synergy between product line managers such that product line objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and parameters.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Analyze the competitive market, existing and emerging technologies, and the Company's available and potential resources in the context of the Company's objectives. Lead development of product strategy recommendations using sales, engineering, operations, product management, and other appropriate resources. Support recommendations to executive management and refine strategies as required.
  • Responsible for day-to-day Product Management Team by coordinating staffing and planning to accomplish business strategies outlined by the VP, Product Development. Assist with setting direction, strategy and work plan for operations, identifying resources, developing and implementing programs to achieve business initiatives, and coaching and mentoring staff to their full potential.
  • Coordinate with engineering, IT, external partners, and operations using market, technology, and Company resource analyses to develop and price products that will exceed customer expectations and meet or exceed the Company's revenue, profit, branding, and market share objectives.
  • Ensure new products meet the Company's goals, are viable, and consistent with our marketing strategy by developing and testing business cases prior to product development. Pilot test products prior to deployment to ensure operations are geared to provide required support. Identify problems or potential problems with the product or support and direct or coordinate fixes.
  • Product Deployment: Project Manage product deployment, to include ensuring operational support is in place, providing training to customer-facing personnel, issuing appropriate internal communications, overseeing advertising and other market communications, monitoring products operational performance and market reception, identifying problems or potential problems, and directing or coordinating corrective action. Practice sound project management, to include documenting key milestones, deadlines, assignments, progress, and other relevant factors.
  • Manage products on an ongoing basis to exceed customer expectations and meet or exceed the Company's objectives. Direct market and internal analyses to assess product performance, pricing and market effectiveness. Identify problems or potential problems and direct or coordinate corrective action.
  • Facilitate, when necessary, sales channel strategies to support the Company's marketing strategy and other objectives and oversee deployment and ongoing management.
  • Facilitate and support procurement strategies to meet the Company's marketing strategy and other objectives. Develop and manage effective working relationships with vendors.
  • Research GTM strategies and positioning for implanting new products. Provide inputs to advertising agencies, salespersons and operations staff to create positive marketing exposure.
  • Maintain accurate files and database information on all contacts, analysis and other Company data resources. Maintains a record of work in progress that can be understood by others.

  • Communication Skills Written & Oral - Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Able to succinctly describe status of business to technologists and the state of technology to business leaders alike.
  • Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning in gathering raw data and processing that data into a meaningful form.
  • Business Acumen AVP - Ability to lead others with top notch business concepts and issues by understanding drivers behind P&L line items.
  • Project Management - Ability to organize and direct a project to completion.
  • Presentation Skills - Ability to prepare and deliver professional presentations to customers.

Skills & Abilities

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Information Technology, Business Administration, or Engineering. Equivalent education and training may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in Product Management, Marketing, Sales, IT, Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent field, with a minimum of three (3) years in the telecommunications industry, resulting in demonstrable project management experience and proficiency in developing and implementing marketing strategy.

Computer Skills: Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, to include Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
