Minimum Qualifications
Engineer/Architect 1
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect.
Note: Positions in this class require professional registration as either an Engineer or an Architect. The employer will designate which professional field is required for each position.
Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
Technical Engineer/Architect 1
Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or professional architect, and two years of professional engineering or architectural experience as an Engineer 1, Architectural Assistant 3 or higher with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
Special Note: Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Engineer/Architect 1 or Technical Engineer/Architect 1 Level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries are listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Engineer/Architect 1 level, promotion to the Technical Engineer/Architect 1 level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.

- Assisting in the management of design consultants for projects that cannot be designed in-house.
- Assisting with technical issues during Construction.

- Serving as a team leader and mentor to other engineers in the design group.

- Managing design consultants for projects that cannot be designed in-house.
- Assisting with technical issues during Construction.
- Travel in small aircraft
- Travel by boat
- Performing inspections over water in remote areas
