Position Overview
Support employees and the Human Resources department in maintaining a safe, secure camp. As a member of Campus Support / Resource Personnel, your work can encompass a number of different activities and tasks.
These can include observing and reporting behaviors of employees, separating employees involved in conflict until HR arrives to fully de-escalate, and monitoring adherence to company policies. You will report to the Plant Manager and Human Resources Manager who will assign tasks as need arises. It is important to be flexible and highly communicative in this role with acute attention to detail while maintaining and respecting confidentiality.
One of your key responsibilities is to optimize AGSs security practices while reporting complaints, concerns, maintenance issues, safety hazards, behavioral concerns (depression, harassment, bullying, threatening, out-of-character), and general goings-on at all times while upholding company policies. Consequently, you are expected to properly monitor, document, and report the aforementioned employee support topics in detail.
You are also expected to provide support for employees and communicate on their behalf to Human Resources when appropriate, while also advocating for the company and AGS policies. Be able to explain the why behind the polices or refer questions/complaints to Human Resources.
Essential Job Functions
- Set the example for other employees by being a model employee at all times. Always be on time for your shift, adhere to and enforce all AGSs rules, regulations and GMP Program.
- Work with Plant Manager and Human Resources Manager to create a safe working and living environment for employees.
- Work with Human Resources to mediate conflict and provide support to leads/foremen/employees who are experiencing conflict. If you have a conflict with an employee, or an employee has a complaint that you cannot resolve, report the issue to the Human Resources Manager immediately. All complaints, resolved or not, must be reported promptly to the Human Resources department.
- Work with Human Resources Manager to plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and check-in times in order to have 24/7 coverage.
- Be familiar with employees, leads, foremen, supervisors, and core staff. Make yourself available and be a friendly face to everyone on site.
- Acquire knowledge of AGSs Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. Specific attention to bear safety and what to do when a bear is in camp.
- Have a working knowledge of AGS policies and politely enforce adherence to these policies.
- Assist employees with solvable problems, e.g. finding their way around camp, who they may speak to about specific needs (payroll, health & safety, etc.), etc.
- Interpret company policies/procedures/signage/etc. for employees who require assistance.
- Monitor Messhall during meal times for covid-19 policy adherence and general behavior.
- Monitor the comings/goings at the Gate. Keep a detailed log of who is coming/going, what their purpose is, make/model of vehicles, and utilize approved lists of people authorized to perform work off campus. This log will be shared with Human Resources during shift change check-ins. Keep the gate closed at all times and do not leave unattended if you must leave the post temporarily, call another member of security or Human Resources to cover.
- Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with AGSs Safety training.
- Report all accidents or near misses to Safety/HR.
- Recommend to or work with Human Resources Manager to implement measures to motivate employees and to improve security practices on site.
- Maintain confidentiality with personal information of employees. Do not disclose or divulge either directly or indirectly the confidential information to others unless first authorized to do so by Human Resources or Plant Manager.
- Maintain clean and sanitary work area and campus.
- Direct outside vendors to appropriate locations or contact in camp.
- Restrict flow of alcohol into camp.
- Get to know the employees assigned to your department and in camp in general.
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by Plant or Human Resources Manager.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, you and your crew may be regularly exposed to wet, cold or humid conditions and at times exposure to extreme cold.
There is exposure to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment could be loud.
There may be other hazards such as bears, forklift and other equipment traffic, varying states of employee wellbeing, intoxicated fishermen, etc.
As a member of the Campus Support / Resource Personnel team will need to recognize the hazards in camp and support employees accordingly.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to stand, walk, communicate with people of varying backgrounds/languages in written, verbal, and non-verbal forms, use a radio, and maintain confidentiality.
You will occasionally be required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
You may occasionally be required to climb or balance.
It is required that you be able to see, talk and hear.
Must be capable of working long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time. Shifts typically range from 12-16 hours with periodic breaks based on work demands, plant production, camp capacity, and employee travel schedules.
Mental Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to use teamwork and interpersonal skills. You will occasionally perform basic math and read, speak, write and need to understand English. Bilingual skills are beneficial.
