JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant
LOCATION: Naknek, AK
JOB DESCRIPTION
The medical assistant will maintain an office presence and provide an initial medical assessment and administer first aid as needed for our onsite employees. The assistant will frequently communicate with the onsite licensed medical person and escort or direct injured or ill workers to them for further evaluation and treatment. Transporting patients to the local clinic may also be required. As time allows, the EHS Coordinator may need assistance with the environmental and safety duties to promote and ensure certain elements of compliance.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Perform basic medical triage per facility protocol
- Escalate non-routine issues and concerns to the onsite medical provider
- Help to document employee health records and medical treatment
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Maintain and inventory facility first aid supplies
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous medical training and experience required
- Able to recognize and respond appropriately to basic first aid and emergent medical situations
- Consistent and reliable attendance in the workplace is an essential function of this job
- Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Must be able to live and work among a diverse worker population and maintain a courteous and professional attitude at all times
- Must be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with all employees
- Must adhere to all company policies on and off the clock
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work long hours in wet and cold conditions. The medical assistant will be working with employees that speak many languages and have varying backgrounds. The work environment is usually loud and fast-paced.
