KITCHEN HELPER
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to work well with others in a multicultural environment.
- Must be available to work overtime as required. Shift length is 12-16 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Perform duties safely, responsibly and efficiently.
- Timely and predictable attendance. Arrive prepared to perform daily duties.
- Perform tasks as assigned.
- Exhibit professionalism and quality work standards.
- Follow company and OSHA safety polices, including but not limited to policies related to Covid-19.
POSITION DETAILS
- Assist Head Chef and Lead Cook with food preparation, pulling frozen proteins, receiving and organizing freight.
- Assists with setting up buffet line and keeping buffet line stocked during meals.
- Assists with serving meals from buffet line.
- Organizes food requests/orders from Core workers.
- Assists with breaking down buffet line and storing leftovers in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Assists with organizing food storage areas, walk-ins and freezers.
- Assists with food and supplies inventory.
- With coworkers, cleans buffet line, kitchen and equipment after every meal.
- Maintain a clean working environment.
- Rotates food in adherence with health and safety guidelines.
- Assists with special projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Remotely located in Naknek, AK. Must be willing to travel by airplane to remote location.
- Due to remote location, internet access and cell phone service are limited and unreliable at best.
- Approximate season contract May-July (dependent on salmon run)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to work effectively as a part of a team in a fast paced environment.
- Willing to follow directions, adhere to policies and procedures, and abide by safety and sanitation rules.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliability and ability to work long hours.
- Ability to maintain respectful relationships with other employees in a stressful environment.
- Ability to communicate with and listen to coworkers.
- Must have or obtain an up to date Alaska Food Workers Card.
- Availability to work the whole season.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to be on your feet for 12-16 hours per shift.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work with and around seafood.
COMPENSATION
- $17.00/hr starting wage.
- Airfare provided from closest international airport..
- Room and Board provided on-site.
