JOB TITLE: Clinic Service Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Operations Soldotna
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: A non- exempt position responsible for appropriate scheduling of appointments, answering calls, and reviewing patient orders in the EMR. This position is responsible for ensuring that all patients, established and new, are checked in and out for appointments, entering and updating all patient information including intake and insurance cards, scheduling for tests/procedures and visits on a timely basis. This position will require proficiency in technical skills and interpersonal relationship skills needed to maintain lasting relationships with Alaska Heart Institute patients and families, referring physicians, AHI physicians and co-workers. The goal of this position is to provide the highest level of quality patient care and customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Greets, registers and schedules patients in a prompt, professional, pleasant, and helpful manner.
Oversees the reception area, coordinates patient movement throughout the clinic.
Collects fees due at time of visit. Reconciles daily payments to ensure necessary information is present for billing department.
Obtain/confirm demographic utilizing computerized appointment systems. Relays necessary information with all patients and enter/update as necessary.
Accurately coordinate patient's appointments/diagnostic testing by communicating with the patient, review of last office notes and hospital records. Including determination of outside provider appointments or hospitalization since last visit with AHI.
Maintains the schedules of assigned physicians by knowledge of provider rotation, preferences, and available appointments. Ensures adequate use of physicians time by using a wait list to fill cancelled appointments.
Determine urgency of appointment based on brief assessment and on familiarity with a patients condition and history. Schedules within appropriate timeframes and if necessary, redirects to the emergency room (ER), urgent care center or primary care physician. Confers with nurses, medical assistants or provider as needed.
PAY RANGE: $18-23/hr to start (dependent upon experience)

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one-year in a Medical Office setting coordinating schedules. Cardiology experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years customer service.
- Computer experience required.
- Excellent communications and customer services skills required.
