Title: Hummer Guide/Driver

Reports to: Alaska Hummer Adventures Manager

Pay: $18-$20/hr plus tips

Position: Seasonal May-October Housing is provided

Hours: 35-40 hours per week

Age: Commercial insurance policy requirement

JOB SUMMARY:

Guiding small private groups on a 4-hour tour in a Hummer H2.

Responsibilities:

Conduct a safe and educational tour of the Ketchikan Area (Tongass National Rainforest, Revillagigedo Island); provide information about the culture, landmarks, local points of interest, historical sites, flora & fauna, and marine and coastal wildlife.

As a hummer guide, your main objective is to provide a custom-designed tour based on the individual needs/interests of the group. Guides will provide an interesting and factual tour, answer any questions the guests may have, and attend to any special requests that may arise. Guides must always be informative and friendly and convey a sense of professionalism in both demeanor and appearance.

As a hummer guide, you may be asked to sell hummer tours which would also require a strong customer service focus with an understanding of customer needs, the ability to articulate and educate on tour merits, maintain a flexible and innovative approach, adapt to change, and possess sound cultural/local knowledge.

Job Requirements:

Must have a valid driver’s license for with a clean driving record/history and, preferably, have at least 7 years of driving experience. Guides are subject to pre-employment drug screening and random screening throughout the season. Tobacco use (any tobacco products, e-cigarettes, vaporizers, or any similar tobacco-related product) is not permitted on the job site.

• Excellent verbal communication skills with guests, staff, and management team.
• Broad knowledge of Ketchikan and area; and the State of Alaska as a whole.
• Convey a sense of professionalism in both demeanor and appearance.
• Speak clearly, accurately, and articulately.
• Be in good physical condition; able to stand, walk, hike for extended periods.
• Sales experience is required.
